Teens Taking Action, Leadership Council, Fall Plans, More!

What a summer. The Canvas kicked off about a year ago and hasn't looked back. This summer, we continued our regular writing and drawing programs, threw a couple huge concerts, hosted a few big open mics and constructed some great memories.

We've also been hosting our Teens Taking Action program, which looks at the places where art and social justice intertwine. Concerts, workshops, discussions and much more, this series has been a great success and isn't over yet. This Thursday, local hip hop legend Desdamona will lead a workshop on women's voices in hip hop culture. 6-8pm.

Looking forward, Fall is going to be a wild time. Some brand new workshops (textiles!), some new faces, installing an art gallery and much more, it's going to be exciting. Priority one is to build up our teen leadership council. If you're a teenager and you love art and community, get in touch with us about taking a leadership role. The sky's the limit.

As for RIGHT NOW, check out our "ongoing programs" page for information about what's going on over the summer.
