Fall 2010 at the Canvas!

Lots of exciting things happening. In more-or-less chronological order:

1. Canvas/Hancock will be closed for a week, from August 30 until September 3rd. But all of our regular, ongoing workshops will resume on September 6. We're getting a new playground for the kidlings and a deep clean.

2. Check out the "Ongoing Programs" page for... well, our ongoing programs this Fall. Drawing, Poetry, Open Mics, more. Stop in any time to check some out.

3. The always amazing Roger Cummings will be doing an urban textiles workshop at Canvas from 9/20-9/30. Screen-printing, airbrush and more. Only TEN students will get in, so email us now if you're interested and commit to all nine days. canvas651@gmail.com.

4. Do you want to BE an artist? Like, for a living? And get PAID to make art? Maybe major in some kind of art in college? If you said yes to any of these, BE SURE TO check out Springboard for the Arts' JUMPSTART workshops (9/29, 10/6, 10/13). More info is on the "Upcoming Workshops" tab.

5. Congratulations to the Canvas' arts coordinator, Kyle "Guante" Myhre (full disclosure: me); his team, Saint Paul, recently repeated as National Poetry Slam champions. If you want to get some writing or performing advice from a two-time National Poetry Slam champ, be sure to check out our weekly writing circle!

6. Finally, be sure to mark your calendar for Thursday, September 16. This will be our big Fall kickoff event, with food and art and community and everything that Canvas is about. More details TBA.
